6 Months!!

I am finally off bed rest! What a relief, bed rest is terrible!!! I finally got the OK to return to "modified regular" activity... meaning, try to stay off my feet whenever possible. This has been working out just fine for me. I can go to work (I am back part time), run a few errands, and do light chores around the house. Naturally, after a scare like I had, I am super duper sensitive to anything that feels "weird". For example, yesterday (on my birthday, go figure lol) I was having weird pains throughout the night so first thing in the morning I decided to let my doctor know and see what she thought was going on. She said that I was dehydrated, and needed to drink lots of fluid and take it easy... apparently my day in the sun the day before wasn't the best idea! It was amazing how spot on she was... after a few hours of rehydrating, I was feeling like a new woman! Other than that, I am feeling great, and my little princess is doing great as well! She is moving and kicking all the time.... let me tell you, she is a strong little thing!!

Cody and I have finally finished registering for our showers. (thank you so much to Colette and my Mom for throwing us one in CA and Cody's Aunt Aimee and Grandma BB, for putting on our Texas one. I am more than excited!!) Luckily, I had help registering from my amazing friend Allie who has a little one of her own! She was truly a lifesaver!

I can't wait until our trip out to CA.... We already have so much planned! We are having a shower.... Cody and my dad will be going golfing in Bodega while my mom, Kelly and I have a girls day of shopping!... And we will be packing up my storage units and shipping them to TX for when Cody and I move into our new apartment on June 12th!

Besides baby girl coming, Cody and I are so excited to be planning our wedding ceremony.... Kelly (my soon to be mom-in-law) should really consider quitting her job and becoming a wedding planner! She is unbelievable! I can honestly say I am blessed to have her in my life! Kelly and Blaine ( my in laws-to-be) have graciously offered to let us have the ceremony at their house... on top of that Kelly and her friends have been busy, busy, busy shopping and planning for our special day! It is going to be absolutely perfect!

Here are some pictures of my growing baby bump and birthday day at the zoo =)

24 Weeks

How your baby's growing:

Your baby's growing steadily, having gained about 4 ounces since last week. That puts him at just over a pound. Since he's almost a foot long (picture an ear of corn), he cuts a pretty lean figure at this point, but his body is filling out proportionally and he'll soon start to plump up. His brain is also growing quickly now, and his taste buds are continuing to develop. His lungs are developing "branches" of the respiratory "tree" as well as cells that produce surfactant, a substance that will help his air sacs inflate once he hits the outside world. His skin is still thin and translucent, but that will start to change soon.

How your life's changing:

In the past few weeks, the top of your uterus has risen above your belly button and is now about the size of a soccer ball. Most women have a glucose screening test (also called a glucose challenge test or GCT) between now and 28 weeks. This test checks for gestational diabetes, a pregnancy-related high-blood-sugar condition.

Keep that Baby Cookin'!!

Over the last week Cody and I have been going through some scary stuff. Last Tuesday, Cody and I went in for our 21 week ultrasound. Everything was looking great, Baby Ava is growing perfectly and all her measurements came out right on track.  We even got a DVD with the whole ultrasound recorded on it! (pretty cool to have!!).. Right at the end of the ultrasound the tech measured my cervical length. It came out measuring 1.9-2cm. She told us the Dr. would talk more to us about this. Right after the ultrasound we met with our main doctor. She told us that my cervix was short and that this could result in preterm labor and the loss of our baby. She gave us very little info, except this was serious and she wanted us to meet with a perinatologist (a high risk pregnancy doctor) asap. Of course, I started freaking out. Luckily, I had Cody to calm me down.  We called the specialist immediately and we got an appointment the same day. Once we met with our new doctor, he did another ultrasound and I measured at 2.24... so he opted to put me on bed rest for a week and go from there.

On Friday, I had a bit of a scare so I called my doctor and he wanted me to come in. Luckily, everything turned out just fine, and the length actually grew a tiny bit. He put me on bed rest until next Friday and if everything keeps improving, he is going to let me go back to work as long as I "take it easy". Fingers crossed everyone!! We are praying that I can make it full term!!!

Since I have been on bed rest, Cody has turned into super hubby/dad........ He is cooking, cleaning, running errands, checking on me... He has been amazing. I couldn't ask for a better man to be going through this with! I have also been watching lots of Netflix and catching up on the tons of books that I have been meaning to finish. I am also going to be taking a certification test for work, so this bed rest is going to give me plenty of time to study for that!

Other than that, we have continued to be busy, busy, busy! We got a fabulous townhouse right in between Cody's parents house and his grandparents house. We have a garage with storage on the first floor, then a three bedroom apartment on the top. It is a beautiful community and I CANNOT wait to move in! Finally we can start putting together the baby room!! How exciting!

Total Weight Gain: No weight gain from last visit. So I will still estimate between 10-15 pounds.
Names: Ava Marie Boazman <3
Regular Clothes or Maternity: At work I wear both... at home on bed rest: yoga pants and t-shirts =)
Stretch Marks: Still none! Hopefully I will skip the stretch marks since my mom never got them!
Sleep: Sleep has been getting better... I have been having lots of crazy dreams!!
Fitness: The only fitness I am getting now is the walk back and forth from the bathroom =(
Miss Anything: Still have morning sickness, so I am still not missing any of the norms... I am missing being able to do everyday things like cooking, driving, standing, even cleaning!!... And going out and doing fun things...For example, today Cody and Jacob are at Oyster Bake (part of Fiesta)... I would much rather be there, than in bed!!
Baby Movement: Yes, and it is amazing! I love it. It is so comforting to feel her move and know she is in there healthy and growing! Cody was finally able to feel her on my tummy! She has some powerful kicks!
Food Wants/Needs/Have-to-Haves: Wheat bagels with strawberry cream cheese, broccoli, fruit, spicy food (especially flaming hot Cheetos lol)and really really cold ice water.
Foods that Make You Queasy/Sick: Meat and fish, anything fried, melted cheese and milk....ewwwwww.
Boy or Girl Predictions: It's a GIRL!!!!
Labor Signs: No, thank God!
Belly Button In/Out: In
Mood: I have been a bit more emotional since having our scare.
Pains: My back hurts from being in bed so much.

20 Weeks!

Officially half way through my pregnancy! Now I just have to prepare myself for the second half during a Texas summer! Oh boy!

Over the last week I can feel little Ava moving a lot more... It is pretty amazing. I can't wait for Cody to be able to feel her moving too! My sleep has gotten better since my Mom sent me the most amazing pillow in the world!!!! The morning sickness hasn't settled down at all, but Zofran is a life saver! It gets me through my work days and meals. I read a few interesting things in some of the baby books that I need to keep in mind... 1) If we start talking to the baby now, when she is born she will recognize our voices, how cool is that! (Cody has been doing this since we found out <3) and 2) From this point on, the baby can actually taste different foods I eat because she is swallowing the amniotic fluid. This week little Ava is enjoying lots of pineapple, celery and peanut butter and cheese!

Cody and I have been very busy looking for a bigger place to move. We have found some wonderful condos around his parents house! I can't wait to settle in so I can start on the nursery. We have also been busy registering for baby girl. As of right now we have registered at: Babies R Us and Pottery Barn Kids.... Let me tell you, this is VERY overwhelming! Being new parents, we have no idea what the heck we are doing. Luckily we have some great friends who have helped to guide us! We have also been busy planning our wedding ceremony! We decided to do a small ceremony with family in July, then we will have a big reception next year with all of our extended family and friends!

We still have a million things we need to do like, sign up for a birthing class, find a new baby safe car (we are thinking a Tahoe or something similar in size), start a college fund for baby Ava...continue to budget and save for my maternity leave and adding an additional love bug to our family, think about a nanny for when we are both back at work/school.... the list goes on forever... Luckily we have the most supportive parents and grandparents in the world!!!! We are so grateful for everything they are doing for us!! We honestly couldn't ask for more love and support through this incredible journey! We love you guys!!!!!!

We are also So excited to be taking a trip to CA in May for my California baby shower! Cody and I will be flying out Thursday May 23rd and flying home Monday May 27th. I can't wait to see everyone! It will be especially exciting to see my family because they have not seen me since we found out we were expecting!!

So as you can tell, we are busy, busy, busy!!!

Baby Bumpin'

19 Weeks and Growing!

For the Easter holiday we went out to Cody's Grandparents ranch in Hondo. It is always such a fun time out there! We had a very relaxing day spending time with family and eating a ton of delicious food!

I must say, this is the first time I have seen a picture of myself sporting a baby bump! Obviously, I can tell that my mid-section is growing, due to the fact that I am 100% more comfortable when I don't button my pants! (The belly-band is a fabulous invention, lol)

Here is a fun update list I stole from Miss Melissa Michelle!

Total Weight Gain: not 100% sure because I didn't know my exact weight when I got pregnant....We say between 10-15 pounds lol.
Names: We finally decided on Ava Marie!
Regular Clothes or Maternity: Both! I still wear my normal clothes... I wear a belly band with my normal jeans, which makes them SO much more comfortable! And we did some maternity clothes shopping, so I am starting to mix and match =)
Stretch Marks: None yet, thank gosh! I did buy some lotion for my tummy when the time comes!
Sleep: I cannot sleep through the night...boooooo. I wake up at least 2 times too use the restroom... and I just can't seem to get comfortable in bed. My mom is sending me a Snoogle Body Pillow, so hopefully that will help!
Fitness: We were doing really good about going to the gym up until I started my new job a few weeks back....now Cody is still going... me, not so much haha... But the weather is getting nicer so we will start our walks and hikes again!
Miss Anything: I miss not being sick every day!!! Morning sickness has been kicking my butt since day one! Because of that I am not missing the normal stuff like sushi and wine haha.
Baby Movement: I feel lots and lots of little flutters going on!
Food Wants/Needs/Have-to-Haves: Fruit, bean and cheese burritos, salad, goldfish an lemonade... that is pretty much what I have been surviving on!
Foods that Make You Queasy/Sick: Meat or anything greasy.
Boy or Girl Predictions: It's a GIRL!!!!
Labor Signs: Nope!
Belly Button In/Out: In!
Mood: I am in a great mood.... but, boy oh boy, do I get emotional....Cody will agree with that=)
Pains: I have been getting terrible headaches!!
Recent Doctors Appointment: We are right in between appointments =)

Baby's First Picture

Hi everyone! Cody and I decided to start a blog in order to keep all of our friends and family in the loop during these exciting times in our lives!

16 Weeks- Ultrasound, Sex and Heartbeat

Two weeks ago was our first appointment with our OBGYN. This had to be the coolest experience of my entire life. Not only did we find out that our sweet little bundle of love is doing great... we also found out that we are having a GIRL!

During the ultrasound baby girl was moving all over the place. It took some time, but they were able to do all of her measurements and check for any genetic abnormalities. At the end of the exam they played her heartbeat over the loudspeaker. This was a very emotional moment for both of us. It is amazing how much you can love something that you haven't even met yet.

Right after the appointment we called our families to share the good news! Cody is already such a proud daddy.... He really is going to make a wonderful father. I couldn't ask for a better man to share my life with!
